| dc.description.abstract | The study was designed to investigate effects of selected exercises are on weight and body mass
indexes of jajura high school students. Total of 40 students, 20 boys and 20 girls, with the age
ranging between 17-19 years were involved in three months physical exercise program (3 days
per week for 45-60 minutes). Throughout the training program tests were taken pre training(PT),
during training (DT) and post training (PoT) and comparison were made between pre training
test results (PT) and post test results (PoT) of male and female participants. Cardio respiratory
endurance, muscular strength and flexibility, were evaluated through one mile run/walk, trunk
lift and sit and reach test. The body mass index (BMI) was calculated as a ratio of body mass in
kg to height in meter squared (m2). Findings of this study revealed that comparative effects of
selected physical exercise on cardio respiratory endurance, muscular strength and flexibility as
well as height, weight and body mass index of male and female students. The data collected from
the study subject were analyzed by using SPSS version 21software. The data per training to
health-related fitness were analyzed by paired sample ‘t’ test to determine the difference between
pre and post mean for participants. The mean value difference of step up increased by 8.9
repetition, sit up improved by 11.1 repetition, step up decreased by 12.5 bpm and sit and reach
test result increased by 2.81cm after 12 weeks regular exercise for experimental group. The
height of both male and female was the same throughout the study, which indicates no mean
difference was observed on height of participants. The weights of female’s participants were
improved 0.38 kg post training and there was mean difference was observed on male and female
participants but male participants improve 1.1 kg better in weight test. However, females
improved better in flexibility tests (sit and reach and ) and weight than their counterpart males.
Both male and female subjects showed similar result in height. It was conclude that physical
exercise had a positive effect on health related fitness, weight, height and BMI of students. The
result suggest that physical exercise had significant effect on weight and body mass index of
school students | en_US |
