Abstract:
TheaimofthestudywastoassessthechallengeofteachinglearningprocessofphysicaleducationinBu
leHoratownsecondaryschoolsinWestGujiZoneOromiaregional state. Descriptive survey 
method was employed in order to answer the 
researchquestionsofthestudy.Thestudywasusedsenses sampling techniques for 
PEteachersandschoolprincipalsandsimplerandomsamplingmethodforstudentstoselectsamplesf
romthetotalpopulation.Datawascollectedthroughquestionnaires,interviews and observation. 
The population study was 2668 students,5 physical educationteachers and 4, school 
principals from two schools. From the total samples size was takenfrom two schools and they 
totally were 356, which consisted of 4 Principals, 5 
PhysicalEducationteachersand347students.Thestudentsincludedfromtwoschools162ofthemfro
m Bule Hora and 185 of them Beriso Dukale secondary school and according to gender199 of 
them male and the rest of 148 of them female. The collected data were organized,analyzed, 
tabulated and interpreted by using percentage and frequency. The major identifiedproblems 
were lack of motivation of PE teachers, lack of teaching materials, problem of 
largeclasssize,teachingmethodology,insufficientinstructionaltimeandtheroleofschoolmanagem
ent and working condition of the school compound. The researcher 
recommendedthattheconcernedbodiesofeducation,PEteachersaswellasstudentsandschoolmana
gement should show unreserved effort to provide and fulfill inadequate 
instructionalresourcesandfacilitiesaswellasgivetrainingforPE 
teachersanddrawingstudents’attentionto thepurposeare thepossible solutions 
toovercomethechallenges.
