Abstract:
The objective of this study was to investigate the importance of physical activities on students’ 
academic achievement in Mea Boko Secondary School. Specifically, the study was occurred on 
Mea Boko Secondary School, Guji Zone Students. In the process of completing this study, related 
literature was reviewed to provide a background of significant relation between physical activity 
and students’ academic achievement and descriptive survey research design with mixed 
research method was used to collect data that involved a total of 66 sample subjects from the 
sample secondary school (student=60, physical education teacher =3 and 3 school directors). 
To analyze the collected data, frequency and percentages were used to determine the 
students’ perception toward the significant relation between physical activity and students’ 
academic achievement, the contribution of physical activity and significant benefits of physical 
activity for the students’ academic achievement. The survey results showed that, athlete students 
are benefited from their participation in the physical activity programs that is resulted in their 
academic good achievement of the students. This is due that the athlete students are strong 
enough in their physical movement, in their mental development, in their cognitive, psychomotor, 
affective skills, social life benefits and the likes that helped them in their academic achievement 
to some extent of achievement. The study concluded that: the sample secondary school 
administrations are expected to help the physical education classes creating favorable teaching 
leaning environment in the school compound and to provide the required type and amount of 
sport materials, facilities and equipment’s for the participation of all students in their school for 
the sake of helping students in their academic achievement
