| dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to assess the psychosocial factors motivating young adult to illegal migration to RSA & its challenges in Duna Woreda of Hadiya Zone, SNNPR state, Ethiopia. Both the primary and secondary data were collected. The primary data were collected from 178 heads of migrant households and non-migrant households these were selected by using systematic sampling techniques. Simple random and Purposive sampling techniques were used to select the study kebeles and the key-informants, respectively. The study has been using SPSS version 20 for descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis methods. While descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze quantitative data, thematic analysis method was used to analyze the qualitative data and a binary logistic regression model was used to estimate psychosocial motivating factors and ttest used to look significance level. The findings of study underlined that different psychosocial factors and the attitude of the respondents as well as the community is towards sending their young adults aiming at getting remittance. Finally, the challenges of illegal migration that affected the living conditions of family, destruct the resource, caused family conflict, loss of fee for brokers and lose permission of parents, young adults wish to migrate rather than to learn and to work. This subjects young adults to the dangers in the travel and lose of skilled and productive workforce. The policy makers need to work for putting in place legal mechanisms for those wishing for illegal migration and work on the awareness creation in the area, especially in changing the attitude of the community and that of young adults to create new job. Finally it needed further doing research to get ample finding. | en_US |
